Continual Learning — keeping competencies current

Team competencies develop at the pace of technological change. With our own SkillScription model, the organisation can be confident that its staff are trained regularly and work with up-to-date knowledge of artificial intelligence.

Competence at the pace of technology

Artificial intelligence is developing at an exceptional pace. Within a few months, new models appear with different capabilities and different economics, along with new tools, working practices and ways of building solutions.

Regularly updating knowledge ensures that teams apply the best available practices and the organisation makes full use of each new generation of technology.

Competencies develop at the same pace as the technology.

SkillScription — competence subscription

SkillScription is our own competence development model, based on a skills subscription. The organisation receives an ongoing, predictable programme that keeps its staff regularly trained in artificial intelligence. Under the subscription, it includes:

  • regular sessions at an agreed cadence, covering what has changed since the previous meeting,
  • role-specific content, aligned with the organisation’s competence matrix,
  • updates to the competence matrix as technology and business needs evolve,
  • documented training records that make it possible to demonstrate the level of staff competence, including for AI Act purposes,
  • support for learning between sessions.

The board and learning and development leaders can be confident that their teams’ knowledge stays current and develops systematically within a predictable budget.

SkillScription gives the organisation confidence that its staff are regularly trained in artificial intelligence.

Continual: learning at a steady rhythm

The programme’s name captures its essence: learning that recurs at a steady rhythm, matched to the pace at which technology changes. Continual Learning follows on from the organisation-wide competence programme and keeps the competencies built there up to date.

Sessions take place monthly or quarterly, depending on how intensively the organisation works with artificial intelligence and how quickly the tools it uses are changing. Each session covers the changes since the previous meeting and highlights those that genuinely matter to the organisation.

Role-specific content

Technological changes matter differently to different roles. A new model capability may be crucial for analysts, while a change in data processing rules affects everyone, to varying degrees.

We therefore tailor session content to roles, in line with the competence matrix. Every participant receives the knowledge that is relevant to their work.

Learning between sessions

Knowledge of tools grows above all through everyday work and through people sharing their experience. That is why we also design what happens between sessions:

  • dedicated time for experimentation, in which people try out new tools on their own tasks,
  • shared knowledge base, in which the organisation records its own experience: effective approaches, the tasks they suit and the conditions for applying them,
  • AI champions in teams, who pass their experience on to others.

In this way, the organisation builds a lasting capacity to learn that grows along with it.

Growth for every individual

Regularly updating competencies gives every employee an ongoing opportunity to grow while working in a duet with AI. People who keep up with new capabilities are the ones who identify further areas where artificial intelligence can take over routine tasks, and they help shape the organisation’s next steps.
