Organisation-wide competence programme

Working effectively with artificial intelligence is the foundation of a modern organisation. We develop this capability in every person in the company, to a depth suited to their role and to the needs of the whole organisation.

The foundation of how an organisation works

The ability to work efficiently and effectively with artificial intelligence is now a foundation of how organisations operate. The competence programme develops it in every person in the company: in operational teams, among specialists, across management and on the board.

This change is led by directors and those responsible for competence development. We design the programme together with them and run it jointly across the organisation.

The programme leads to an organisation in which every person works in a duet with artificial intelligence.

AI competence matrix

We begin the programme with a competence map. For every department and every role, we determine what knowledge of artificial intelligence people have today and what they need for the organisation to achieve its goals.

The result is a company-wide AI competence matrix that shows:

  • which competencies each department and each role needs,
  • what level individual teams have reached today,
  • where one department’s knowledge strengthens the work of the others,
  • in what order to develop competencies so that they deliver results fastest.

In each department we identify AI champions who develop their competencies in greater depth and support their teams day to day. Through them, good practice in one department quickly becomes available to the others. We update the matrix as the programme progresses and the technology evolves.

Paths tailored to roles

Based on the matrix, we create development paths. An accountant, a customer service specialist, an analyst and a board member each need different knowledge. Their common foundation is the set of principles for collaborating with AI: framing tasks, assessing results, working securely with data and recognising where the decision rests with a human.

Every path is hands-on. Participants work on tasks from their own area and build working solutions that they use in their daily work.

Growth for every person

The programme includes every person in the organisation and opens up new opportunities for each of them. An employee who collaborates effectively with AI hands repetitive tasks over to it and devotes more time to work that calls for experience, judgement and relationships with people.

People who see their own development in the programme engage with it and become co-authors of the change.

Transparency and regulatory compliance

Programme leaders receive a clear scope, paths assigned to roles and a documented record of progress. They can see at any time how competence levels are changing in each department. We measure business outcomes at the implementation stage, against specific processes, roles and teams.

The EU regulation on artificial intelligence (the AI Act) makes staff competence a formal requirement. The programme addresses it from the outset: the matrix and paths are documented, so the organisation can demonstrate at any time who has been prepared, to what extent and for which role. We cover the regulatory areas in more detail on the Regulatory compliance page.

Next steps

The programme also gives the organisation insight into its real needs. People who have seen what is possible identify for themselves where artificial intelligence can take over routine tasks. The resulting map is the starting point for the implementation stage, which begins with the AI readiness audit.

Competencies develop together with the technology, so the programme continues into the evolution stage through the regular cycle of Continual Learning.
